What it is
What biohazard cleaning covers.
When blood, bodily fluids, decomposition residue, sewage or similar hazardous biological matter has to be cleared from a property, that is biohazard cleaning. It is decontamination as much as cleaning, so it calls for protective kit, hospital-grade chemistry, and disposal routed through licensed hazardous-waste channels.
A normal domestic clean cannot cope with any of this. So can a commercial deep-clean crew that has not been trained for it, and most will say no on the doorstep. A proper specialist turns up suited in full PPE, brings biocidal agents, and leaves you with the paperwork a landlord or insurer will later ask to see.
Has a coroner, the police, a doctor, an insurer or a landlord told you a property needs biohazard cleaning? Then you are in the right place.
When you'd need this
When biohazard cleaning is the right call.
Nearly everyone reading this is facing something upsetting, and usually something urgent as well. The list below sets out the situations the Liverpool specialists we introduce see come up again and again.
- A death that went unattended in the property. Once the coroner has released the scene, it has to be cleaned before anyone sells, re-lets, or lets family back inside.
- A crime scene handed back. Police have finished their examination and returned the property to the owner or landlord.
- A bad accident that has left blood or bodily fluids across surfaces, carpets or flooring.
- Sewage flooding back into a room, or a burst pipe fouling an area, such as drainage backing up into a ground-floor flat.
- Decomposition to deal with, which means killing the odour at source and stripping out porous materials that have soaked up contamination.
- A suicide, where the family also needs someone to help coordinate with insurers through it.
- A hoarded property that has tipped into biohazard territory, with urine, faeces, rotting food or pest fouling.
The work
What the specialist actually does on site.
From the moment they arrive to the moment they sign the property clear, specialist crews follow a set procedure. Every Liverpool partner we send you to wears PPE rated for biological contamination and routes all waste out through licensed hazardous-waste channels.
Where discretion matters, the van that pulls up is unmarked. The PPE covers everything: a tyvek suit, gloves worn double, a respirator on the right filter, eye protection, and sealed boots. Nothing gets cleaned until the contaminated zones have been cordoned off.
The chemistry is hospital grade, virucidal and biocidal, usually hypochlorite or peroxide based according to what the contamination is. Anything porous that has drawn contamination in, so carpets, soft furnishings, at times plasterboard or floorboards, comes out, goes into hazardous-waste bags, and leaves via licensed disposal. It never sees a domestic bin or a skip.
Hard surfaces get washed, disinfected, and then checked to confirm they are clean. When odour is the problem, ozone or hydroxyl generators break the smell down at molecular level, rather than papering over it with a fragrance.
Paperwork closes the job out. You get a certificate of cleanliness for the insurer, the landlord or a sale, plus waste-transfer notes that evidence the licensed disposal.
- Full PPE across the crew: tyvek suits, respirators, double gloves, sealed boots.
- Hospital-grade biocidal and virucidal chemistry.
- Contaminated porous materials taken out, carpets and soft furnishings, plus plasterboard where it has soaked through.
- Waste routed through licensed hazardous channels, never a domestic skip.
- Odour broken down with ozone or hydroxyl treatment where it is needed.
- Certificate of cleanliness for landlord records, an insurer or a sale.
- Discreet by default, with unmarked vehicles on request.
Process
From your call to property cleared.
1. You tell us what has happened
A short form, photos if you can safely take any, and anything else you want to add. The wizard gathers what the specialist will need ahead of the call. On a weekday between 9 and 5 we ring you back inside the hour. Any other time, we are in touch by 9am the next working day.
2. We brief the right specialist
On that call we pin down the scope and match you to the Liverpool biohazard specialist who fits the job best. Our lead is a vetted crew covering Liverpool and the wider Merseyside area who travel out to you, and we keep further vetted teams on hand as alternates when timing or the specifics of a case call for it.
3. The specialist quotes
Normally inside 24 hours of our call, and often the same day where it is urgent. The quote comes to you straight from the specialist, and it covers any insurance liaison they take on. We add nothing on top. Whatever the specialist quotes is what you pay.
4. Work scheduled and completed
The specialist sorts out timing with you directly. The urgent cases, death cleanup, sewage, a released crime scene, usually land within 24 to 48 hours. A certificate of cleanliness follows at the end, and insurers, landlords and solicitors treat it as proof the property has been remediated properly.
Why come through us
One call. The right specialist. No shopping around.
Phone a specialist cold and the first ten minutes go on explaining the whole thing to a stranger who has never met you. Then you are asking for a price on something they have not laid eyes on. Then you do it all again with the next firm, and the one after that.
Come to us and you say it once. We brief the specialist before they ring you, so they come to that conversation already holding the scope, the urgency and the background. Someone who has just lost a relative should not have to tell the story three times over.
These are specialists we have known for years. We can tell which one suits a coroner-released property, which one suits a sewage backup, and which one suits a hoarding case that has crossed over. Getting that triage right counts.
None of it costs you a penny. Our money comes from the introduction, not from your pocket. What the specialist quotes is what you pay them.
Pricing
How biohazard cleaning is priced.
A form cannot give you a biohazard price. Too much rides on how far the contamination spreads, how large the affected area is, which porous materials have to come out, which licensed disposal routes apply, and whether an insurer is in the picture. The specialist prices it on the call, once you have talked them through it.
Insurance is in play on a lot of biohazard jobs. If your home cover includes trauma cleanup, or your landlord cover includes contamination caused by a tenant, the specialists we introduce can deal with your insurer for you and invoice them instead of you.
There is never a markup from us. What the specialist quotes is the figure you pay.
Our partners
The Liverpool specialists we work with.
We connect biohazard cleaning customers with three vetted Liverpool specialist partners. We've worked with all three for years and we choose the right one for each case based on certifications, availability, and the specifics of the job.
For biohazard work we put you with a vetted crew, insured and DBS-checked, that covers Liverpool and the wider Merseyside area and comes out to the property. Trauma and biohazard cleaning sits at the centre of what they do.
Also available as alternates: A vetted commercial and specialist cleaning team that covers Liverpool and Merseyside. A vetted specialist team we have worked with for years, with a response within the hour.
You don't choose the specialist yourself. On our call after you submit the form, we'll match your case to the right partner based on certifications, current availability, and the specifics. You pay the specialist directly. We never add a markup.
Related specialist services
Biohazard Cleaning cases often overlap with other specialist work.
Specialist cases rarely fit one category cleanly. If your situation involves more than one of the services below, mention it on the form. We'll match you to a specialist who handles both, or connect you with two partners working together.
- Hoarder cleaning. A hoarded property often crosses into biohazard territory, with urine, faeces and rotting food. Where it does, the same PPE protocols kick in.
- Cleaning after pest control. Clearing up after rats and mice counts as biohazard work. We treat rodent fouling with the same PPE and the same licensed disposal.
- Severe mould removal. Sewage floods and burst pipes tend to breed mould once the water has gone. Some jobs need both crews, one after the other.
FAQ
Biohazard Cleaning FAQs
Common questions about biohazard cleaning in Liverpool.
Do you handle biohazard cleaning yourselves?
No. Our own trade is end of tenancy work. For anything biohazard we hand you to vetted Liverpool specialists who carry the certification, the PPE and the disposal setup this work demands. The lead is a vetted crew covering Liverpool and the wider Merseyside area who travel to the job.
For an urgent biohazard job, how fast can someone get there?
The urgent ones, death cleanup, sewage, a released crime scene, are usually booked in inside 24 to 48 hours of the specialist ringing you. Mon to Fri between 9 and 5 we phone back within the hour of your form reaching us. Beyond those times, you will hear from us by 9am the next working day.
Is biohazard cleaning something my policy pays for?
Frequently, yes. UK home policies often build in trauma cleanup, and landlord cover often extends to contamination a tenant has caused. The specialists we introduce deal with the insurer liaison themselves, and supply whatever documentation the insurer needs.
Can this be kept private from the neighbours?
Yes. On request our specialists turn up in unmarked vehicles, and the PPE goes on between the van and the door. Discretion comes as standard here, not as a paid add-on.
What happens to the contaminated materials?
Anything carrying biological contamination that cannot be reliably disinfected, so usually carpets, soft furnishings, and sometimes plasterboard once it has drawn contamination in, is stripped out, sealed into hazardous-waste bags, and taken away through licensed waste channels. Never a domestic skip. Waste-transfer notes come with the documentation.
Do we get documented proof of a proper clean?
Yes. A certificate of cleanliness is issued once the job is done. Insurers, landlords, solicitors running a sale, and family members going back in all recognise it. Waste-transfer notes evidencing the licensed hazardous-waste disposal are included with it.
This has come after losing someone. Is there support for the emotional side as well?
We can get you to the specialist quickly and quietly. The crews we work with have seen many cases that come straight after a bereavement, and they know what that weight feels like. We will not hurry you on the call. Say as much, or as little, as you feel able to.
